Bulgaria's Alex Nikolov is number two in world volleyball

The player of the Bulgarian national volleyball team and the Italian Civitanova, Alexander Nikolov, has been named the second best volleyball player in the world for 2025. The ranking was made by Volleyball World.

The Bulgarian volleyball star deserved this recognition after leading the national team to the final of the World Championship in the Philippines and the team ranked second after the champion Italy. This was Bulgaria's first participation in the final for the world title in 55 years, BTA reported.

The eldest son of famous volleyball player Vladimir Nikolov also finished the championship as the best scorer. In addition, he won the Italian Cup with his club team Cucine Lube Civitanova and became the runner-up in the championship, in which his team lost in the final against Trento.

There are two more Bulgarians in the Top 10 of the world for the year. Alexander's brother, Simeon Nikolov, finished in sixth position, and eighth place went to the captain of the national team, Alex Grozdanov.
