A training course for church singers has started in the town of Varshets. It has attracted 30 participants from different parts of the country, including one participant from London. The initiative is being held at the Church of St. George in the picturesque Balkan mountain town, on the idea of the local priest Ventsislav Radevski and with the blessing of Vidin Metropolitan Pahomiy.
The training takes place every Saturday, both in person and online, allowing participants from more distant towns to take part actively as well. The aim is to respond to the growing need for well-trained church singers in Bulgaria.

“Just as we need priests, we also need singers, because a priest cannot serve the liturgy if there is no one to respond ‘Amen!’ to the exclamations,” Metropolitan Pahomiy told BNR-Vidin.
The head of the Church of St. George, Ventsislav Radevski, expressed his satisfaction with the strong interest in the course, which he sees as a clear sign of an existing spiritual need among Bulgarians.
